| Note: The
eScale requires a PC running Internet Explorer, Version 4 or later.
It will work with America Online (Version 5 or later), but
it will not work with Netscape.
Note1: The eScale connects to a serial port of your computer.
If you are using a MacIntosh computer, or a PC with no serial
ports, you will need a serial to USB adapter to connect the eScale
to a USB port. We recommend the iConcepts
serial-USB adapter. You must install the driver for the
adapter. To download the iConcepts driver click
here. On a Mac it should automatically install. On a PC save it to your desk top or hard drive, then double
click on the file name and follow the installation instructions.
How To setup your
eScale:
Insert the batteries. Next insert the
1/8" plug of the supplied cable into the data port located in
the middle slot on the underside of you eScale. Connect the
other end of the cable to the
serial port of your computer. Then click on the picture of
the eScale (at the bottom of this page), and you will see an, "Application loading... please wait", message. The
eScale software will then download automatically, which may require up to several minutes, depending on your connection speed. |
You will next see one or more pop-up Security Warnings that ask if you would like to install
the software from Patient eCare (as shown below) and
from Microsoft. Note: If you have an older version of Internet Explorer, you may see a message that the security certificate can not be confirmed. Please click "Yes" to these windows.

| | Next you will see the Registration Form, as shown below:

Please fill out the registration form and click "Register". The registration information will be stored on your computer, so you will not have to fill out the registration form again. Your measurement window will then appear (as shown below). Make sure that your
eScale cable is connected to the serial port of your computer.
Turn on the eScale by pushing the large wide button on the end
of the eScale with your toe. When "00" appears
on the scale display, step onto the scale. Remain
perfectly still for 5 seconds and your readings should appear in the boxes as
shown below. If no readings appear,
refresh the page and try again. If there are still no
readings appearing, then select the next higher serial port setting (e.g. COM 2) and repeat the measurement. This serial port setting will be automatically saved.
Type brief comments if you like, enter your pedometer reading, and click on "Send Data".

To register and start using your new
eScale please left click on the picture below. Once you are on the measurement page you can right click on the measurement page and create a shortcut icon for your desktop, or you can save the measurement page in your "Favorites", so that you won't have to come to this instruction page in the future.
